A lot of shows start off overly-dramatic or a little bit slow, or have some similar drawback that they eventually grow out of. Fans of the old show may not be fans of the new, for example; but I'm glad that somewhere out there, some executive gave the Supernatural pilot episode a chance to shine.
Currently in it's 8th season, Supernatural chronicles the adventures of Dean and Sam winchester, two brothers who go into the 'family business' - which is to say, hunting things that go bump in the night, and slaughtering as many vampires, windigoes, werewolves and hybrids that they can. Don't get me wrong, most of the fairytales are bullshit... but the gruesome parts are often far more true than the average person would come to expect. Through the show they tip their hats to the old shows and movies, the newer ones, how they've changed and even going so far as to satirize their own fanbase as a main plot element.
So, the boys go on the road - encountering all sorts of evil things, moral dilemmas and their own clashing personalities pave the way to an interesting, and jesus-fucking-christ exciting journey. I highly suggest it for anybody who's into the gritty, man VS the supernatural kind of show.
The brothers are also really hot and occasionally get naked, so there's that.
